Be more kind
There is so much heaviness in the world right now. It is hard to feel like celebrating when there is so much pain and suffering everyday- and rightly it seems that everyone is feeling a bit sluggish about getting into the holiday spirit this year. I hear it in comments from tourists in the halls of the Grove Arcade, and honestly I feel it myself.
Maybe this year instead of focusing on all the rushing and spending and the endless list of things we are “supposed” to do this season, let’s slow down and find the things and people that make us feel best- and give that all our energy…
Love the smell of an Xmas tree but hate putting up the lights? Try making an old school construction paper chain with your family and put that up instead.
Does the thought of finding the ‘perfect’ gift for everyone you know send you running back to bed to pull the covers over your head? Maybe try baking cookies and adding a hand written note.
Let’s take the pressure off ourselves and the ones we love. Let’s do things that make us happy. Let’s focus on making the people we love happy and build memories. Maybe if we focus on being more kind this season, maybe joy, love and peace will spread.
I know it might seem like a strange thing for me to say- don’t focus on the gifts and spending this season- the season that is traditionally the biggest for retailers/jewelers, but my mission is to spread love, joy and happiness through jewelry- not pressure to spend money on things people don’t need or want. I am confident the people that want/need my jewelry will find it.
The world needs all the beauty and grace it can get right now, and if I can spread a little bit of both that will be the best gift of the season for me.
Wishing you and yours love, joy and happiness this holiday season,
Katie
